It’s Friday and instead of giving you all a post on the frugal way of living, today we dedicate this post to all the children worldwide.
Happy Children’s Day!!!
Yes, yes, you’re wondering why you should still read this post but were you not once a child? We all started out as children before growth caused us all to be adults and take on adult responsibilities, however, there are some of us who still enjoy watching cartoons, reading comics or generally enjoying partaking in childlike entertainment so we are all kids at heart and for this we say Happy Children’s Day to all our readers. I’m pretty sure you remember all the parties and excursions you attended as a child, the thrill of having new clothes, the games you won in order to get a prize and boy oh boy! the food and drinks you enjoyed with your friends. However, the enjoyment is not the main aim of carving out a day to celebrate children all around the globe.
History shows that Children’s Day is celebrated and recognized on various days in many places around the world to honor children globally and it was first proclaimed by the World Conference for the Wellbeing of Children in 1925 and then established universally in 1954. There is a also Universal Children’s Day which takes place annually on November 20 and this particular day was set aside by the United Nations General Assembly to promote mutual exchange and understanding amongst children and to promote the welfare of the world’s children. This day is also set aside to bring awareness to everyone around the globe that there are children out there who are undergoing violence in forms of abuse, exploitation and discrimination, physical and psychological trauma and those forced into child labour. Children are the hope of our future in this world and it is our duty to do right by them and make this world a better place for them to live in.
We implore you to set this day aside to honor and celebrate at least one child, be it a child of your own or one forced to the streets to fend for his/her self. Put a smile on the face of a child, listen to their dreams and aspirations, encourage a child to go down the right path through good guidance and stop violent acts against children. Take this day to protect, celebrate and honor a child out there. Children are very impressionable and an act of kindness today will go a long way in molding the life of a child. If you have ever had someone do something nice for you, pay it forward to a child today.
“For in every adult therein dwells the child that was, and in every child therein lies the adult that will be – John Connolly”
Once again, we wish you all a Happy Children’s Day.
